Evaluation
Education StudiesMathtech provides evaluative, economic and policy analyses of education programs
and policies for the U. S. Department of Education and other federal and state education
agencies. Program evaluation can involve assessment of program impact, program
implementation, costs and benefits, or all of these areas. Mathtech has conducted a
variety of evaluation studies, from its performance assessment of the Title III (Higher
Education Act) Program, to a systematic assessment of the outcomes of diversity in higher
education. We have also provided multiple analyses and recommendations for the Federal
Family Education Loan Program, including an exploration of repayment policies and a study
of loan database structure and reporting. Recent projects include:
- Observation of cognitive laboratories
for the proposed Voluntary National Test for the National Academy of Science;
- Creation of a database and evaluation of
the Departments first program of regulatory relief for selected institutions in the
administration of student financial aid its Experimental Sites Initiative;
- Exploration of the effects of various
types of financial support mechanisms for science and engineering graduate students on
time-to-degree and early career plans;
- Evaluation of the national research,
development and dissemination systems for a report to Congress through the National
Educational Research Policy and Priorities Board;
- Design of a methodology to develop a
formula for allocating federal funds to the neediest school districts in the State of New
Jersey for the Safe and Drug Free Schools Act Program; and
- Analysis of the implementation of
accrediting agencies standards for postsecondary student outcomes such as graduation
rates and job placement rates.
